Thank you for stopping by my "Featured" Gallery. These are pictures I keep up in my own home that I've grown extremely fond of for one reason or another. I hope you enjoy them.

  • This mother and child pair walked slowly and cautiously past us keeping an eye on us as we remained behind our snowmobiles a few feet away. Winter keeps the bison conserving energy, there is no way I would be this close in Summer or Spring.

  • A view of Denver, at night.

I made big plans to head out on Friday night to get this shot but my day lost momentum when my son headed out to his Mom's for the weekend. I suddenly had the urge to lay around on the couch and watch Fringe with some take-out food. Thankfully, my friend Art dropped me a text telling me he was going to drop into the city from a too-windy lookout mountain photo stakeout so I packed up my gear.

I found this location several months ago and didn't really value it at the time because it wasn't the shot I was looking for at the time, despite it turning into a great HDR after the fact. But I knew I wanted to get back here and it turned into exactly what I had hoped.

You can see the light from the nearly full moon peaking out from the tallest building, I have some moon shots from the night (when I was a little bit to the right) I thought about photoshopping in but there is something I like about the light from the building ... sort of a hidden feel).

Enjoy.

    Moose Ripples

Sometimes I bring very specific gear to get a very specific capture. In this case I got what I came for but ... just out of this frame is a moose and her calf bathing in the lake causing the ripples. While I captured my prey, maybe an open mind would have brought me a more beautiful capture, or maybe a memory is better yet.

    Sunset ... With a Tree

A beautiful spot near Roxborough Park that will soon be dense housing. The solitude of this loan tree speaks volumes as the open space around it contracts.

    After the Rain

Really it is pretty self-explanatory. There is a rainbow, it is over Highlands Ranch, and this is our windmill.

    An Autumn Abstract

This is a picture along Vail Valley during one of the first big snows. By using my 100-400mm and pushing it out to the edge I was able to lose sharpness and make this a bit more abstract.

  • It's funny when isolating a single subject can help capture the beauty of an entire mountain range ... when the mountain range isn't even in the picture. This is a single tree in a lake outside of Crested Butte, backlit by the sun just rising over Mt. Crested Butte.
