Shorts!

When I'm shooting runners, I don't always notice the details! I went back and was like, "those are jean shorts" ... not only that, he is just having fun with the run. Love it!

Finish with Style

A few people on the course just emoted "Joy", not only did this runner place in the top 3, every single picture I have of her comes with that feeling of just enjoying running out on the trails. This one, again, is taken by Kai.

Get This!

This runner yelled "You have to get this!", so I just start shooting. We are at about 12 miles on a brutal course, and the runners are just loving it. Thanks for the photo op ;-)

Through the woods

This may be my favorite picture. There is another shot of her in this set as well but this picture sums up the run to me. I will add, this is the first place marathon runner for the women and I'm pretty sure she was 3rd overall.

Run Together, Stays Together

This couple was fantastic. After trying to hug while running she yelled "Awkward". I have a picture of the couple at the end of the race as well. Is there a better way to spend a few hours than getting each other through 13 or 26 miles?

Family!

I waited at the finish as the 4th place finisher came through. He was running 2nd at the halfway point so his wife and kids were waiting anxiously. His daughters went up the course and ran him through, great family! Congratulations on your run!

1st place women, marathon. Coming through the line, downhill, over 26 miles, sailing through the air trying to slow down and letting the intensity out, it is all here.

Crazy!

To have a great sense of humor at 12 miles, that takes something! Maybe a touch of being crazy ;-)

Mens 1st Place at 12

Here is the men's 1st place marathoner as he came around the corner at mile 12. Totally intense on the run, once through the line he waited for the next several people talking to them, congratulating them, nicest guy. But during the run just in a whole different world, great to watch!

12 mile mark, #2

Here is the #2 women's racer on the marathon. Again, the remarkable thing is just that these runners are enjoying themselves! I mean, it was a beautiful day, a beautiful place for a run but when I'm at 12 miles I'm grinding it out. Here, #2 is just getting warmed up! Nice job!

Push Each Other

This gentleman waited afterwards to greet this runner. He talked to me about how she was able to push him and keep him at pace and how thankful he was that she was behind him and how he had to wait to congratulate her coming through. Runners work together!

Start!

I sent my son, Kai, to the start line while I hiked back about a mile to where the field would be a bit more spread out. I told him to "get a shot of their feet", not expecting him to get down into a ditch at the side of the road while they took off! Turned out great though!
